GARAGE FIND: 1968 Dodge Coronet R/T 440 HP Convertible w/ FACTORY A/C 1 of 1

We all have dreams of finding a holy grail in a far hidden garage. This 1968 Dodge Coronet R/T convertible is no exception to that, and is 1 of only 528 Coronet R/T 440 convertibles ever made in 1968, quite possibly the only one with these specific options! This HIGHLY OPTIONED Mopar is now for sale on eBay here, with much of the original parts included in the sale! What makes this specific Mopar so special is the factory A/C option. With only 63 1968 Coronet R/T convertibles sold with factory A/C, this Mopar is truly a rare gem!

The cars fender tag clearly designates this car as a WS27 car, along with the optional 440-4BBL HP motor backed by a 727 automatic transmission. Originally, this car had a 3.23 Suregrip rear end, but now sports a DANA 60 rear end with 4.10 gears, a differential that’s rare for an automatic car. The factory rubberized undercoating is still present on the car, who's floors are completely solid and rust free. The factory color of this rare Mopar was a “Bright Blue Metallic” with a “Light Blue” interior and black convertible top. The interior features rear seat speakers, an AM radio, and factory vinyl seats with a console shifter! From the factory, this car featured the F70x14 redline tires. Factory power brakes also came with this car.

The owner Derrick purchased the car in 1988, as shown in the images below. In 1991, Derrick was working on the car when he had advanced the timing too far, thus leading to a tick in the engine, and the car being kept in a climate controlled storage unit in Arizona since then. The car was then recently taken apart for restoration, but the owner had neck surgery in 2016, and was unable to complete the restoration himself.

The original motor for the car is gone, but it now has a 1969 440 RB2 engine. The original transmission, driveshaft, and gas tank have been removed from the car, but are included in the sale. This rare Mopar is ready for restoration, and would be a fine addition to any rare car collection!

Yeah except for Dodge didn’t make a CONVERTIBLE Coronet of any trim package in 1968… this is a ruined car… probably just a 500 made to look like an RT clone…
